Hello all. I have just found this site, and have found it very informative. However could anyone tell me if there is a device that protects the rider from the sharp teeth on the crank.I have recently come off my specialized road bike, going to quick round a corner. Consequently i came off worse, and needed 24 stitches to my right leg. The bike needs a bit of attention, and while doing so i want to fit something that could help protect me.

  • Just google 'chainring guard'

although I suspect you won't find anything big enough for road bike chainrings since roadies don't use them.. and they're all built for the smaller rings on communter bikes and MTBs.

Sounds nasty, but not really a common thing to happen. Just one of a million ways to hurt yourself when you crash.
