buying a crossbike

hi i dont know a lot about cross bikes so any help would be good i what a cross bike for bike to work and racing cross on it and the bike has to come from evans as thats where work are doing the bike 2 work sceam i like the look off this bikes

I used to have a genesis croix de fer. Was a good bike, done a lot of commuting on it but was pretty heavy so probably not so good for racing. Sold it and bought a 29er, not quite as fast but a lot more fun to ride.0

If you've got the choice I'd suggest going for something with disc brakes, they work consistently when it's wet which is a godsend for an 'all weather' commuting bike.
I've got a Boardman Team CX which I'm very happy with. I changed from SRAM Apex to Shimano 105/Tiagra because that's what I was used to from my road bike, I also upgraded the wheels but that was down to weight/vanity rather than any actual problem with the stock ones.0
