good point - when I'm toiling up the steep bits at 7mph I'm pretty close to the edge!0 -
I got some abuse two days ago, a guy was beeping at me furiously... then about 5 minutes later I realised my shorts had a hole at the back, and you could see my nutsack dangling when I stood up to pedal... I did feel a ripping as I rode up the hill, but assumed it was because I'd caught the saddle as I moved position, didn't realise I'd displayed my jewels to half of the north west.
Guess he was beeping to tell me. Ha!http://www.youtube.com/user/Eurobunneh - My Youtube channel.0 -

.............. regularly I get the ''Road Tax Dodger'' when I'm filtering through queues ....... I just approach them cool, calmly and collectively, and explain I have 3 cars............ the only ''tax dodging I'm doing. is the Company car park levy of 15 squids a month :P
A car with zero emmissions would not pay road tax so why should you tax a bike which is also zero emmissions - and takes up less road space as well.
(I have 2 cars and HGV class 1 licence [old terminoligy])
Biggest problem I find is boy racers who think it's funny to overtake as close to you as possible whilst their mate in the passenger seat leans out to whack you on the back - idiots!!!!0 -

Road tax doesn't exist

I generally do get abuse but poor driving is a form of abuse and that is abundent. I tend to deal with the latter by proper road position which keeps me safe. I let the car drivers worry about theirs.
Also road tax is Vehicle Excise Duty, that shut them up.http://www.thecycleclinic.co.uk -wheel building and other stuff.0 -
I had an incident with a Mancunian knuckle dragger, he tried to run me off the road explaining "you should ride in the fu****g gutta" Blah, blah, blah.
I met him shortly after and explained very politely that there really was no need for the abuse. Again, seemingly incapable of rational discussion, he stated his intention to harm be, something about my anus.
Unfortunately he left the junction and turned right, my intended direction, as I also turned right he saw this as the line in the sand. He pulled over, jumped from his car and threatened to hospitalise me. Now, I am, let's say, proficient in the fine art of Karate, but at that point you have to make a choice.
I am older, wiser, with a great job, family and standard of life I could only have dreamed of as a kid. I took a deep breath, shook my head and cycled off. He's a lucky man, but it just isn't worth it. Keep your head, be nice, cycle on. It will all be forgotten in about ten minutes, he will always be an ar** hole.
It just isn't worth it guys and gals.
However, once hands are laid on, all bets are off!0 -
Well done. Admirable self control. It never is worth it0

A split second decision can change your life, forever!
Over a few useless words, never worth it.
Don't get into the argument, it will achieve nothing.
Go home to your family, feeling great, eat a lovely meal, have a beer, wine, soft drink.
Don't end up locked in a police cell, or worse, being right but dead! There's a pointless outcome if ever there was one.
And remember, it's not what you know, it's what you can prove in court!

I had my first run in yesterday.
A car pulls out from a side road and does a right turn across my path without looking, indicating or stopping. My spider senses were working so I scrubbed off enough speed so I would not hit him but I still raised my arm up in disgust and gave him the stare.
BIG MISTAKE
While I continued along at a good pace and look over my shoulder and see him stop and do a u turn. The guy chases down the road beeping his horn while shouting through the passenger window that "he didn't see me". I point out to him that if he looked properly and STOPPED before proceeding he would have seen me. The guy just would not get it through his thick skull and before speeding off blamed me for NOT wearing a yellow vizor!!!0 -
I have never really had any problems but had a couple of funny incidents on my ride around the Wirral on Friday.
Resplendent in my Sky top that my wife had bought for my birthday, I was slowly riding in traffic through West Kirby town centre. I stopped at some lights and an old guy at a bus stop nudged his wife and said
"Sky Rider"
His elderly wife gives it a "Eh?"
"He rides for Sky"
Made me laugh
Then a couple of miles on a car full of 17 year olds pull along side and start giving it "Team GB" and "Go Mark Cavendish" amongst other things.
I can only think that I was riding so fast they must have thought I was Mark Cavendish :roll:Cube Agree GTC Pro

Touch wood but nothing bad so far, just the odd BAD woman driver. Mainly good abuse if you know what i mean especially when i wear my Sky jersey (come on Wiggo, Cav etc.)0

I had a very bizarre yet refreshing rewarding experience last year.
Whilst cycling through the back lanes of the Chalfonts, I was forced into a wall by a young female driver, as she clipped my hand and drop in the process of squeezing by on a sharp bend. My first reaction was to hurl abuse through the pain, at the pink Ka that had just hit me and carry on.
As, I cycled on a car stopped a short distance in front of me and a man jumped out, leading me to think, "oh great here comes the heroic boyfriend/brother/friend to create a further scene", he waved me down and stopped me. Ready for a vitorilic outburst, I was amazed to hear he was an off-duty policeman who had seen what had happened and taken her number down. He mentioned that I was quite within my rights to claim it was a hit and run.
I thanked him greatly for taking the time to stop and help me, as my hand was now dripping blood at this stage and told him I didn't really think much would happen. He understood my point of view.
So, like everything else in life, always good and bad.0 -

You are right and after the event I did thnk about it and wondered why I didn't. At the time I wasn't really thinking about much more than finishing my ride and getting off the bike as I still had 30 miles to go to get back.
I'm not really from that area, however if anyone sees that Pink Ka, with the regulation pink attachments, keep an eye on the driving. Happened not from from Rickmansworth. Just checked my route Sarratt Rd, if you know it...0
