I was about to ask "wtf?" But then I saw your location is Wirral, which having spent many days driving tangerine skinned ladies up to Liverpool I understand that up there you have to make do with local girls going for the Simon Weston look or be very lonely indeed0 -

It may not be 1500 quid better but the two dont exactly compare - suspension design differences, pivot reliability etc? Lets face it that five's suspension design has been honed over many many years!Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0 -

RIIIIIIIP.
Did a set of x-fusion forks not win a test in MBUK a while back? Its better specced than the orange, lighter, prettier, will probably ride better, and the frame you get for money is very good value. You couldn't even buy a Blur LTc frame for that much!0 -

This, I rode quite a few over a weekend May last year, happened that a lot of the people I ended up camping and riding with were riding them, and liked most of them, they do seem to work well to be fair, whether or not they're better than x in the way they ride is immaterial, different people like different things.
Anyway started pricing them up and looking at what it would cost to build one, more out of interest than anything else. I actually kind of can stand (different to liking) the way the bikes look. I wouldn't buy one though, mostly down to the price of them, even if I could afford it I doubt I would on principle.
May 2011 a Five Frame cost £1250 (with RP 23 shock).
May 2012 a Five Frame cost £1400. It had added cable routing for a dropper seatpost. (Had a basic shock though, RP 23 was an extra £100).
Currently a Five frame costs £1500. (RP23 no longer an option*) It has a Maxle swingarm, this was however previously an upgrade option costing an extra £100. What I don't get is why they need to charge the extra £100 still now that they're only making the maxle swingarms, seeing as they no longer need to make both maxle and qr swingarms, is it really costing them that much more to make a maxle one? Or is that what they perceive it adds in value to the frame?
* I don't know how the CTD shock stacks up against the RP23, not long ago they were knocking fives out with just about the most basic model of shock though at the same price.0 -
