Hi,
I have a canondale mtb with a 1.5 inch headtube. It is currently fitted with a 1 1/8 inch fork. I want to upgrade the fork and have been advised that to to fit a 1.5 inch fork, the headset and the stem will both need to be replaced (an expense of around 70 to 80 pounds).
Does it make a difference whther I put in a 1 1/8 inch fork or a 1.5 inch one, bearing in mind that either way, i will be buying a Fox racing suspension fork costing upwards of £500?
Many thanks

i thought you already had a tapered fork? The 1.5 fork will be stiffer.0

Its a long story but badically, idon't have that fork anymore.however, evans have been kind enough to offer me a replacement (for a number of reasons). I have the option of either accepting their recommendatio of a 100mm travel 1 1/8 inch Fox fork or insisting that they provide a 1.5 inch fork. I do not know enough abou forks/headtubes to make an informed decision.0

the steerer size is less important than the fork.
a stiff steerer is pointless on a flexy fork."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
