Which Winter Road Bike?

I've finally realised that to keep the [soon to arrive] Sunday best, best, I need a winter/cummuter bike.
I don't have a hue amount of knowledge of these, essentially is it just pinning some mud guards on any bike that will take them or is there more to it - Bike Radars review of the Ribble Winter Trainer looks pretty good to me for the price. Any others that I should concider?
Cheers.

1. Forme Plateau
2. Tifosi CK7
3. Dolan Prefissio
4. Kinesis Racelight T2
5. Kinesis Racelight TK2
All are available as frames that can be built up or as compete bikes.
My ideal would have been number 5 but based on cost of frame (best price £168 vs £345) I went for number 4 with a Kinesis DC07 carbon fork. A mate who breaks a lot of gear rides a T2 and he hasn't broken it yet after some hard miles, and it gets great reviews, so that's good enough for me! Currently being built up.
