Just got a used Giant Trance X2 of a mate at my Dad's work. Bikes in great shape, barely a scratch on it and clearly been well looked after! Benefits from the bristish spec too which is a massive improvement on the American one!
Now to add some more white components for a black and white look and a few upgrades!

Bike as it came


XT shadow and RP2 are nice upgrades on the british spec, though conti explorers are way too small a tyre for this bike!


Hayes brakes will get replaced with shimano at some point, and got some nice XT shifters to go on too.

    Stripped the bike right down for cleaning and upgrading.


    She's cleaned up beautifully, the anodized finish seems really hard wearing and easy to clean up, massive bonus!

    Set of XT shifters courtesy of m_rift04, and an XT front mech to make a full XT drivetrain.

    Now waiting for a massive CRC order with tyres, white trail spds, white gear outers and a new chain!

    Freehub needed stripping and regreasing, first experience with DT Swiss hubs but not and unpleasant one! easy, quick job to do! Cassette also degreased and sparkling!


    Also discovered that the rims are tubeless ready which is good to know!

    Tools all impatiently laid out ready for my CRC order to complete the build!

    So at last my chain reaction order came so finally able to get back on with the build!!


    First thing on is full length Goodridge white gear cables



    Looks pretty slick and should last better in the muddy winter months too!

    Whole bike is coming together pretty well!





    Still awaiting a 2x9 front mech, and some white lock on grips to complete the build!
    Then front brake needs a bleed, tweak the suspension and should be good to go!!

    Then longterm hoping to whack some Shimano SLX/XT disc on there, as im pretty fed up with the Hayes already!
    Then a reverb, and a wider bar and she should be perfect!

    CRC order took way longer than expected to come!! so finally got my white odi lock ons, a dedicated 2x9 front mech, and a nice little white bottle cage to complete the build! at least for now! loving how it looks and rides! Just need to get it out on to some more technical trails!

    How did you get on fitting the slx double mech, easier to set up than the triple that you where having problems with?
