Does anyone have any idea where you can get Vuelta jerseys? google draws a blank as does the official site.

I have never bought a 'classification' jersey before, due to the whole 'you have to earn them' debate, but just wanted to see what the Vuelta ones looked like as they are a bit more obscure and if there wasa really nice one maybe it wouldnt draw as much scorn as TDF ones, as i reckon a lot of people, including most roadies wouldnt recognise all the Vuelta jerseys..(as they change so often for starters!)

Likewise my LBS has the Giro young riders jersey ridiculously cheap...i like the look of it the (white and pink...) and seriously considered getting it, but 2 questions, similar to the above, 1) would many roadies even recognise it and 2) as its pretty obscure, again would it draw much 'apparant' scorn as those going round in world champ/kom/yellow/any tdf jerseys?

opinions please?
thanks

Not sure where to get the jerseys from. I know Prendas do the Giro tops but not sure about vuelta.

    To answer your other questions:

    1) why worry if you like it wear it

    2) see 1

    +1

    I don't get the "you haven't earn't it debate"

    A) its a replica jersey, I haven't knocked Thomas Vockler* (insert any cyclist that comes to mind) over in the street and nicked his actual jersey

    B) can you not tell the difference between a professional cyclist and overweight amateur? No-one is trying to kid anyone.

  • i aint overweight, theres a strong chance i could be mistaken...until they see me cycle

i think the earnt it thing is a bit bollox, buty i can see why people might (if they are a bit of a knob) have an issue with it.

however my point is also how many roadies would even know what the giro young cyclist jersey even looks like?? (not many i would reckon)

Ignore any knobber that tells you what not to wear / you haven't earned it. Utter tosh.

These guys have some of the 2011 Vuelta jerseys left :http://www.all4cycling.com/shop/teams-and-events-66o-vuelta-espana-c-757_657.html

The 2012 Giro BYR jersey is absolutely stunning. I would buy it at full price, let alone at a good LBS price.
  • Have you got it then!?

any opinions on if people think roadies would even recognise it?

yeah seen the 2011 ones, bit odd that no 2012 available anywhere it seems, the organisers should really up their game imo, as to not even have a store link on the offcial website is a bit poor imo. (that i could see anyway)

Yep! I bought one back in May from All4Cycling.com at full price & recently picked up a second one from Prendas as it was too good at that price not to!

It's much more like a skinsuit-type material than a standard team jersey. It fits beautifully.

Roadies that follow pro racing would recognise it, but I doubt that anyone else would. So what? I'm a 40-year old amateur cyclist. No-one in their right mind is going to confuse me with any of this year's Giro BYR candidates. If they did, I'd be absolutely delighted.

but are you young enough to be able to justify wearing it!!!

whoops just seen you mention your age!. my bad.
  • if its that tight may have to see if lbs has xl instead of L if not will get it off prendas. i take a large in santini team jerseys. reckon would L fit 6.3 of lean build, or does it come up smaller than team ones

I've got the giro young rider's jersey and its my best, nicest jersey and I don't really care whether someone recognizes it or not :D I'm 190cm tall and pretty lean (76kg) and XL fits me just fine, anything smaller would be to small.

btw. I've got it from prendas and it arrived next day. A+ service

I also take a large in Santini team jerseys, but I had to get a Medium in the Giro jersey, as I thought the large was too loose. The skinsuit material has much more stretch in it than a regular team jersey. Try the Large on before deciding.
  • I think this whole you need to earn it or you can't wear a team jersey is such shite! - Some people on this forum need to get over themselves! - If someone wants to wear a certain jersey what the hell does it have to do with anyone else! I will liken it to a football or rugby fan wearing their teams shirts.. no they don't think they are sergio aquero (although i'd like to be) and they wear the shirt as support to a team or person they support! - They also want to make a financial contribution to the team or club too!
  • bought the giro young riders, today, it is rather fine! not to much pink as to look like a complete tool when commuting, but enough to look great! love it!
