I've got a gallon of Wonderwheels and I wondered if this can be used as a substitute for Muckoff (or other similar cleaning products) or would it simply ruin the paintwork?

Crikey - I dont even put wonder-wheels on my car alloys. This is extremely corrosive stuff and could eat through your paintwork in no time. I'd stick with the muck off if I were you.

I'd advise against using wonder wheels on your car too - the acid eventually eats through the lacquer making your wheels dull and eventually getting down to the metal leading to corrosion.

    Ok, that's case closed then!
  • Wonderwheels is fantastic for cleaning the types of material and surfaces the instructions reference. I still marvel how easily it shifts brake dust.

However, it's staggeringly bad if used incorrectly - I know MucOff has a bad reputation for eating paint finishes and the like but that's nothing compared to what wonderwheels will do if you use it on the wrong material.
