Hi
Been a MTB rider most of my life, wanted to get into road cycling as I'm getting older and I think it will fit in with my life better and will get me off the indoor bike. After a lot of research and reviewing this forum I felt the Trek Madone 4.7 was the bike that was best for my budget. I managed to secure what seems to have been the only 2013 in a 54 to exist in the UK at the moment (after a couple of weeks of phone calls to various stores around the country). Travelled 200 miles (and spent a night in a tent) to collect and took out on my first ride this morning.
Genuinely the first time I've ever been on a road bike this morning - can't believe how stable the thing felt, was instantly at home - just the gear and break positions that are going to take some getting used to! Manhole covers, drains and potholes were initially of concern (both damage and sending flying) but after a few my confidence grew.
Would love to be able to properly review the bike as there is actually little information on the 2013 model to be found, but it would be meaningless based on my experience. One think I will says is I found comments regarding the saddle being uncomfortable - I found it fine (but these may have been reviews of older models).
Looking forward to being a part of the community!
