This is my brand spanking new addition to the family. Bought from the Planet X showroom in Roverum Yesterday (25th August). Its not even been ridden yet. Bought to replace my Focus Cayo which sadly died (RIP) in a collision with an ambulance on 1st August.

Very pretty. Lovely little dog too0

Interesting to see how it compares to the Cayo. Do you know how much it weighs? Not a big fan of Planet X bikes (do like their wheels though), had a Nanolight for a while, however this looks good. Looking forward to the ride review. Enjoy0

Well first ride was mixed! Bike was not entirely set up 100% correctly. Seat too low and too far forward so I could feel the injury in my knee quite a bit from my crash on 1st August. However, The bike felt great apart from that, never used SRAM before and I have to say I think I am a convert. Shifting is so responsive! Bike itself felt really stiff and responded well to a kick of speed out of the saddle.
Planet X did measure me up for the bike and told me that the small frame would be perfect for me being 5'8". I was unsure at the time and remain skeptical. I guess it might be a case of just getting used to it, I have after all been out of the saddle for the best part of 4 weeks.0 -
Very nice! I'm a recent SRAM convert too, wish I'd tried it sooner! Mind if I ask what happened in the ambulance incident?0

NICE BIKE.V NICE POOCH!WISH YOU FULL RECOVERY.I HAD CRASH TWO WEEKS AGO AND CANT WAIT TO GET BACK ON BIKE.WISH YOU WELL MAN!0

Never liked the look of Planet X bikes but yours has changed my mind. Just needs some deep section carbon wheels for a proper cutting edge aero look.0

Nice, will probably be my next fram when I get sick of my SL Carbon. Sram Red is awesome tho0

Cool bike! One question are your wheels the 52mm that are spec'd as standard on the N2a? They look different from the PX website.
Cheers,
Matt0 -
The one pictured is the Special edition gran fondo with the ridiculous 11-32 cassette priced at £1699.99 on the website. The wheels it comes with are the planet x AL30's I think you're looking at the £1999.99 version equipped with SRAM Force.0

Nice bike; nice dog.0

Great bike! I ride an RT 57 (my own custom build). How is the N2A? I suspect it's a slightly more aggressive ride than the RT.0

mattmarsden78, I'm toying with getting one of these - how is it 18 months on?0

Hi, sorry for the delay, only just seen your post! 18 months on I can confirm that Planet X quality of build and components are shockingly bad!!! I love the frame, the chain set, saddle and bars, but wheels are cheap, and the screwers are pointless.
On the wheels, the spike nipples keep sheering off. I've lost 4 nipples now that I've had to replace. I've learnt that the cheap construction is to blame. Most mainstream wheels have a rounded edge on the spoke hole, these have a shaper metal edge which continuously rubs on the nipple causing it to sheer off.
On the skewers, the bolt which grips the skewer to the frame, is almost bald. The amount of times my wheel has slipped out of line without me realising resulting in my frame being rubbed by the tyre to such an extent that all the paint has been worn away is unreal! I'm convinced that the rear dropouts are out of line which exaggerated this issue. All px offered me was £75 in return.
Would I buy Planet X again?? No!0 -
Sorry to read that Matt.
If you'd like to email me on brant at planet x dot co dot uk, I'll arrange for your bike to be collected, we'll inspect the frame and look at replacing it, fix the wheels, replace the QR's and get it back to you.

So......the owner originally contacts PX direct and gets a piffling £75 offer. He then goes on line (when asked by a 3rd party about his opinions on PX i.e. didn't go all ranty of his own accord). PX spot the post and then attempt to make amends. Tut tut! Why couldn't they be more accomodating initially?
I've got a PX Pro SL frame and love it to bits actually...... but really.....come on PX.....you have a solid market....don't hack folk off please.
OP - I hope you get the bike sorted pronto and can learn to love it again.0 -

Yes. That's disappointing.0 -
I'd have to say I've had similar disappointing after sales service from PX. I sent them a couple of photos showing some paint cracking on my n2a which they immediately dismissed as being my fault - all this without seeing the frame. All I was looking for was reassurance that it wasn't going to get any worse. They also said, again without seeing the frame, that it was a write-off which I was really shocked by. The frame isn't raced as I use it for triathlon training and it's never been crashed. The cracking is also under the chainstay which would be a very unlikely place to damage. I'm really concerned that the frame is so fragile (have had a carbon Felt TT frame and there is no fragility issue) so I'm going to have to cut my losses, buy a new frame elsewhere and put the £800 I spent down to bad experience. The customer service experience is too poor for a direct sales company.0

I also have a tale of woe. I have two N2A's (one meant to be race bike, one training bike, before I got given a bike from my team, one has barely been used and sat as a frame for 6months).
For insurance reasons I couldn't take my team race bike to Belgium to race, took the Planet X, was cleaning it before the first race when I found a crack in the non drive side seatstay. A week in Belgium to race nearly ruined, I had to race my girlfriends bike for the week.
Got home, px said they would collect the bike for inspection, they quickly said it was an issue with the carbon and would replace he frame on warranty.
I'd built up the spare frame in the time Planet X had my other one, ridden that for the last few weeks, cleaning it tonight, huge cracking on the drive side seatstay, just below the brake bridge. Obvious it's not an impact damage as is on two sides of stay and not on the side what would be damaged had anything got caught in the wheel. It looks very similar to cracking on the other frame, as if from below the paint.
I need a bike to train on every day, the warranty frame will be with me on Tuesday but I cannot keep swapping groupsets over to new bikes if this keeps happening, let along what might happen if one gives out totally and suddenly.
I want to like them, I really do, but two frames with incredibly similar damage... Faith is lost.0
