When do people change their pedals ? My right pedal is a little tough to get my foot out of at times. I have loosened the tightness off but it's still a little tough.

Assume you have oiled pivot points ? You sure it's not cleats that are worn ?
I'm on 3rd set of cleats and no sign of wear on pedals as yet.

I wouldn't normally expect them to get stiffer unless they're badly in need of lube. I'd say most people would replace their pedals when the bearings are shot, although even then some pedals have serviceable bearings.

    What are they?

I've never replaced a set of pedals for reasons of wear & tear. Been riding the same sets of SPDs (commuting) and SPD-SLs for years and years - just keep 'em cleaned, lubed and serviced....

Same here with my DA SPD-SL's. I'd love to have the new carbon ones, if only something would go wrong with the ones I've also had for years and years. New cleats when needed and a drop or two of oil on the pivot points and never a complaint.
  • Thanks all. Will give them an oil before my next spin which might fix it :-)
