Hi
I am off to Les Gets on Saturday with some friends who are taking their own road bikes. I am looking to hire 2-3 road bikes of a reasonable standard for 2-3 days but can only find bike hire places in Morzine. Anyone got any suggestions?

Try Morzine - it isn't very far away! IIRC when I rode to Morzine over Col de Joux Plane from Samoens there were at least two (winter ski hire) shops there offering road bikes - when I later visited Les Gets by car the main street had bike hire but I don't recall road bikes being in the outdoor line ups - although I didn't go inside the shops.
TBH that was at least 3 years ago - things may have changed.
Have a fantastic trip - there are some great rides around there - but then I guess you already knew that otherwise you wouldn't have booked.0 -
Ask at the bike shops when you get there. The whole town of Les Ges and Morzine are set up for cyclists in the summer, I'd be surprised if none of the MTB places had at least a few road bikes. If not, then Morzine is only a short distance and definatly has road bike hire. Get the bus, it's 60kph downhill all the way back to Les GesMud to Mudguards. The Art of framebuilding.

Scrap that last bit, my mental map failed me. The fast main downhill road strip is from Les Ges to tangines and not from Morzine.
Anyway, a couple of thoughts for you. The local tourist board have been running a series called "1 Jour, 1 col". Basically a series of free to enter, turn up on the day, closed to traffic, free refreshments, rides up some of the best and most famous Col's and passes in the area. Check it out there might still be a few happening when you are there.
Also the local tourist board have a little guide book for roadies called "Guide velo Morzine-Avoriaz Vallee d'Aulps", free little guide book to the local road passes, recommended.
Have fun.Mud to Mudguards. The Art of framebuilding.

I don't remember seeing any road bikes for hire when I was last there.......2 years ago. Of course, things might have changed since then.0
