Do you reckon the USADA will try and take the title of "first man on the moon" off him posthumously? Or am I getting confused?

Well Neil is no longer able to contest the allegations so they must have "substance".

You're right Gizmodo, I hear he got tired of fighting the allegations of fake landings and studio sets, so just gave up.
If you're up there Neil, gawd bless ya!0 -

You're confused. They never went to the moon. They we're in a disused aircraft hangar/film studio in New Mexico. Everyone knows that.0 -

A sad day. I was only 4 when they went to the moon. I remember asking my mum what they meant by 'going to the moon'. I knew what the moon was and I knew what a rocket was, but somehow I just couldn't connect the two, but I didn't understand until my mum picked me up and carried me down the the back garden, pointed to the moon and said, "That's where they're going". I was, quite literally, awestruck.

Inspired a whole generation, even though the whole "Good luck Mr Gorsky" thing was a myth. Despite all the technology so much was still down to piloting/ split second decision making, especially when landing the Eagle on that day. Truly groundbreaking.

Upon his passing, Neil's family said "For those who may ask what they can do to honor Neil, we have a simple request. Honor his example of service, accomplishment and modesty, and the next time you walk outside on a clear night and see the moon smiling down at you, think of Neil Armstrong and give him a wink."

I was fortunate enuff to meet Mr. Armstrong back in 2009 (along with a few hundred other people) and he remained remarkable... for in this day and age when people milk their 15 minutes for all it's worth and then some, he basically went home to his farm in Wapakoneta, OH USA (just north of my 20) and led a "normal" life.
And, while many consider him a hero... I don't think so. While it certainly took guts throughout his career (both as a combat pilot, test pilot and astronaut) his endeavours were based on sound science (I cannot comment on his religious beliefs, but I suspect that he believed in the teams that launched his missions more than mere fate). This does not make his accomplishments any less remarkable, but a few weeks ago, I attended a meeting of the last surviving Doolittle raiders... none of whom considered themselves a "hero"... merely guys doing the job!
Thank You Mr. Armstrong... you inspired an entire generation around the world... wish we could get some of that back.0 -
Neil Armstrong made the point several times that he shouldn't be considered "the first man on the moon" (which was decided largely by the placement of the door in the Lunar Module) but as one of the first two men to fly to the moon (which will always be a monumental achievement of science, mathematics, engineering and piloting). The most fitting memorial would be to go back there.Specialized Roubaix Elite 2015

For me the sad thing is that it is looking likely that at some point in the near future there will be no-one alive who has walked on the moon.Chocolate makes your clothes shrink0

I read in the paper today:
Neil Armstrong used to tell his astronautics students jokes about the moon. When nobody laughed he'd shrug and say, "I guess you had to be there."

If you haven't already done so, "Moondust: In search of the men who fell to earth" by Andrew Smith is a fantastic read. Smith tracked down and interviewed all the surviving astronauts who had walked on the moon. For a group of men with one huge achievement in common, their post-Apollo lives couldn't have been more different.'This week I 'ave been mostly been climbing like Basso - Shirley Basso.'0 -
