Was this bike brand new when you bought it 7 days ago, or was it second hand/used?

Only there is such a thing as warranty.

Most of the drive train seems to be Acera which should be OK. Not sure about the "Prowheel pioneer 242" cranks though. Seems like warranty issue to me......
    Faster than a tent.......
  • yeah the bike was brand new , and i did expect to upgrade but not this soon ! and in the 7 days ive had the bike ive covered just over 100miles .
still once ive fitted all the new gear , and start riding it again i should be happy as its a really nice frame and wheels . and i will be sending the "Prowwheel pioneer 242 " crank back to orbea for them to look at !

So you buy a brand new bike, have a few problems with it, but instead of giving either the retailer or manufacturer any chance of rectifying the faults you decide to come onto an Internet forum and slag them off.

When you say "IM HAVING TO REPLACE....", what you mean is "I have chosen to replace...."
  • good point ! but still i did take the bike back to the shop after 3 days use ! the fact the rear mech is rubbish i can live with and i don't mind upgrading, but for the front crank to warp !!! , by the end of next week once ive replaced everything i want to , and i still not happy then all the original gear will go back on and the bike will then be returned for a refund , then i'll look for another bike ....and you are right I have chosen to replace gear for better stuff , that is my choice but im still wondering if my bike was the last bike to get built on a friday in the factory , if you know what i mean ! as for the retailer they are great and by far the best bike shop ive ever used , i couldn't fault there help !

Had an orbea for over 2 years, and now it belongs to my mate...wasn't top line only an Aqua with Shimano Sora...nothing has ever been upgraded on it other than handle bars and it's still going strong.
And if anyone was gonna bend a crank think it might be my 18 stone :D

  • i only weight 15 stone , and my other orbea , mountain bike is the dogsb@ll@ks and i love it ! but as with the carpe i think the crank is very weak and cheap to start with !

The correct pressure is a combination of load (weight) and tyre width to prevent pinch punctures vs comfort. The rating on the side of the tire is the maximum for that tire, not the correct pressure to use.

    See the chart on http://www.bikequarterly.com/images/TireDrop.pdf

    For more information see http://sheldonbrown.com/tires.html#width

One of my bikes is a Carpe H10 (triple chainring version) and I run the 32mm Continental Sport Contacts at about 5.5 bar

Rolls well, but still has enough compliance to take the sting out of rougher surfaces. Have also had Schwalbe Winter Marathons and Continental Top Contact Winter II, but nice to get back on the slicks.

    What tyres do you have?

You ONLY weigh 15 stone? Well, that's super light-weight...
