What pedals and shoes to get?

I have recently bought my first road bike, I'm looking at buying a decent pair of pedals and shoes, I'm looking for a pair of Specialized shoes to match the rest of my gear. Can anybody help me?

Don't do matching - do the shoes that fit you best ? This isn't a fashion parade. :-)

As to pedals - you're spoilt for choice. Road SPDs, Look, Speedplay - everyone has their favourites and most shoes will take most pedal systems. I like Look - but the others are just as good.

I definitely want to go for Specialized, I'm after a pair you can walk in too.... So if anyone can point me in the right direction I'd be grateful.....

Don't know what your price range is, you will be wanting Mountain Bike Shoes and SPD pedals, Shimano M520's are a decent pedal and can be picked up reasonable cheap.

not sure how they're rated but having seen them in the flesh as it were they're nice looking, have the boa retaining system and you can fit either spd sl or spd cleats (3 or 2 hole systems). If you intent to spend a bit of time walking in them I'd suggest going for spd (two hole) as the cleats are more robust. Alternatively look at more road/touring style shoes which recess the cleat for even easier walking eg

If these aren't 'roadie' looking enough for you look at an aggressive mtb style shoe eg

Cycling is going to be painful if Specialized shoes arent the right ones for you then!!

Seriously - try a variety of manufacturers on and then ensure what you buy are as comfortable as possible. You will suffer if you get it wrong

PS I wear Specialized shoes myself because they suit me. They are the only item of Specialized gear I own other than my saddle
