As the title suggests , recommendations please on which rechargeable AA batteries you have used which lasted well and the charger was of a 'reasonable' quality.
Sadly the 0545 blasts in warmish daylight are coming to a close hence the above purchase ready for the next 10 months !!!!!
thanks in advance VH.

Seriously - spend the money.
Do the refresh thing on ALL your batteries (takes AGES the first time btw) and you'll see exactly which are the best batteries.Chunky Cyclists need your love too! :-)

Worth reading up a bit on somewhere like candlepowerforums, they love batteries.
Most batteries are re-branded ones, there are only a few places that actually make their own. Panasonic are one I think, and make good batteries.
I own and would recommend these (eneloops)

Enerloops will do the job, and a decent charger like KB suggested. That's what I've done for my Hope Vision 10

I use Camlink 2700 mAHs & Omega charger with my V1, never had any bother with either charger or batteries (with regular all-night use). I have to agree with Kieran's suggestions RE the charger though. The Camlink one works well, it's not a bad bit of kit (anything but), but I am thinking of going for a Technoline one for the extra flexibility of being able to charge odd numbers of batteries, different sizes, and the refresh options.Dahon Speed Pro TT; Trek Portland

To get the best from rechargable batteries you should discharge them completely (my Energizer charger does this) and then charge them completley. The slower the charger the better, mine takes 14 hours.
As for batteries, I find Duracells are good. Grab a bargin:

Have you got the Hope yet? Far better for the money, ie lighter, lomnger run times, and stuff that takes 18650 cells which hold more energy.0

got it yesterday , been working all weekend so will have a few days to go through some of the reviews listed above , thanks for all the options VH.Enigma Esprit Di2 - Go tI ! Summer !0

+1
They seem to do the business more than the Ross ones that were common a couple of years ago. One odd thing I found on pricing is that when I bought it was cheaper to buy several smaller packs.0 -

+1, I bought this at the same time I bought the batteries mentioned above. I regret going cheap on the charger I previously used as it now useless0 -
thanks for the advice , went for the charger kieran recommended with the eneloops that were highly rated and recommended as well.
Will await the posty knocking this week and proceed to bore the future MRSVH with tales of battery discharging and recharge values, entice her to the cave and her impress her with the lumens of the new light.
I find treating her well like this makes her appreciate the finer things in life !!Enigma Esprit Di2 - Go tI ! Summer !0 -
You won't regret those purchases - the BL700 together with the Eneloops is a fantastic combination.0

just bookmarked as I'm going to be needed some new ones soon!0

Resurrecting this thread somewhat. I am preparing for the darker mornings/nights, and dug out my Hope Vision 1 and Flash/Flare lights last night.
It got me to thinking, could you utilise RCR123A batteries or 18650 li-ion batteries in the Vision 1 somehow? Standard it accepts 4x1.5v AA batteries (6V) so would 2x 3.7V be an issue?
Thanks

The battery holder is for the 4 aa batteries fitted, not sure about fitting the 2 but imagine it would be possible if the holder could be amended , if your in that sort of business probably doable but if not I imagine the cost would be prohibitive to amend to fit.
No complaints on the charger and batteries purchased though thanks for the tips + it's another gadget to add to the list.......the other half was not as interested in the charger and batteries as I thought she may have been !!Enigma Esprit Di2 - Go tI ! Summer !0 -

Are there tangible differences in performance/battery life with the rechargeable setup vs standard AAs?
Thanks

Just bought one of these for the other half (can't stretch to another Exposure Strada for her ) - any tips please for getting the battery holder in the right position for the contacts - having a right faff getting them to connect, and more importantly stay connected when screwing the top back on? I just bought one too.
Battery life seems great (on paper), but doesn't really seem any brighter than my Exposure Flash?
For a spare set of batteries, I just bought some of these:

Hopefully they'll be ok.0
