Replacing stolen Genesis Core 26.1

I had my Genesis Core 26.1 stolen a couple of weeks ago. The insurance claim is all sorted now and a voucher for £550 is on its way in the post.
Do I go for the same bike or is there something better on the market now?
I like the look of the Specialized Hardrock Sport Disc 2013 (29er), but I am also considering the Norco Charger 6.1, Norco Charger 9.1 (29er), or the Genesis Core 26.1.
Can you guys advice on 29ers??
My other consideration was a cyclocross bike, but I think the standover height might be a too high for my short legs...
The cyclocross I was looking at was the Jamis Nova Sport 2013
The voucher is for Evans Cycles.
Thanks in advance!

What sort of riding do you do? Why a CX bike?0

I do a daily commute (only a couple of miles a day). Weekends I go out with my wife on her dutch bike and my son in his child seat or trailer. Then every now and then I get to go out on my own, then I am a little more adventurous.
I read a bit online about the cyclocross being good all round bikes. That is some what of an after thought, I think I will still end up with and MTB.0 -
MTBs are better all round bikes, especially for the all round use you suggest. Many 29ers are poorly specced for this cash though, the Hardrock being particularly bad. I'd have a look at the Rockrider, Voodoo and Carrera range of MTBs.0

None of which are stocked at Evans.
Maybe have a look here.0 -
Can anyone give me any advise on this? I now understand that the Hardrocks a rubbish, but what about the Norcos? Or am I best just going for another Genesis (are Genesis any good?).
Are can you recommend something else for around £550? I have already posted what I want it for, so if a different type of bike (CX, Hybrid, etc) then please suggest something (that is stocked at Evans).

Please provide direct links to the bikes you are looking at to avoid confusion.0

Either of the Norcos - both have the best forks and spec, whatever fits and feels best really.0
