Hey all,

After being a long term mountain biker I have now just taken up a touch of road cycling to pass the evenings and I love it... Admittedly i only have a carrera vanquish but its a start...

Anyhow, Just wondered if there are any local abingdon riders that fancy showing me a few routes and rides, So far I have racked up 750 miles in 3-4 weeks and have no issues undertaking rides between 30 - 80 miles... Just want some riding buddies and to learn some good routes....

Hi, I don't live round there but used to. If you haven't already I'd definitely recommend riding out to White Horse Hill via Stanford in the Vale and Charney Bassett. Some good rides out past Brize Norton as well and you can get into the Cotswolds from there no problems. I've got some of my old routes mapped (leaving from Hinksey Hill) that I can send you links to if you want

Get yourself across to Didcot on a Sunday for 9am and join the Club run, some of the riders come from Abingdon

    Alternatively try the Abingdon Freewheelers

Like the look of the Waterperry club run from Didcot. Might keep an eye out for that one in future. Easy enough to stick the bike on the train at Reading and head out from there.

  • In the same boat albeit starting out at a lower base fitness level....

Would you be so kind as to let me know how you get on as I'm just up the road nr Wallingford?

    Cheers
