5 of us are going up to Keswick in October and I wondered if you had to choose would you do the Borrowdale Bash or the Skiddaw loop?
Also I read someones post saying that had done them both in one day in a figure of 8 loop. Anyone any idea (approx/average speed) how long this takes?
Cheers in advance.

Took me about 4 hours to do BB, but I was taking my time and stopped for a butty and that. Also got a bit lost where the bridal way from honister doubles back on itself, wasted a lot of time there, d'oh
Had a good day though, would recommend the route but I haven't done t'other one to compare.0 -
I have done an extended Borrowdale Bash from Threlkeld, from which you can climb up one side of the valley above Glenderaterra Beck, down the other side of the valley and descend into Keswick via Latrigg. Then on to do the Borrowdale Bash, return to Keswick, and back to Threlkeld along the old line. Of course you can start this route from Keswick.
It's a good day out and took several hours but then again I'm not the fastest either. Never done the actual tour of Skiddaw so can't really comment on that.0 -
Depends on the weather in October. If its fine I would do the Skiddaw Skedaddle if its filthy do the Bash you will still get wet but less chance of getting lost and easier to bail out onto tarmac with plenty of civilisation to warm up in.Fig rolls: proof that god loves cyclists and that she wants us to do another lap0

Have done both in October and would go with what stubs says, have ridden the Bash in dreadful weather and it's fine, would not fancy it so much up around Skiddaw. Having said that if you're fit enough for both in one day go for it, i wish I had the legs.0
