Rockrider or CBR

Hello, I have recently moved to the countryside and am hoping to do abit of mountain biking, but need a bike to do this. As I previously bought a fairly decent road bike (which I don't use anywhere near enough) I thought a sensible option might be to get a relatively cheap second hand bike, and if I find I do get out on it then get something better in the future.
I have found two bikes which look alright and both going for about £160. I was hoping someone with abit more knowledge than me would share their opinion of them please:
A - Rockrider 8.1 2007 with
Rock Shox Tora coil front fork,
27 speed shimano Deore trigger shifters, Hayes 9 brakes, all seems in good working order, and hardly been ridden, 19" frame (I'm 6').
B- Claud Butler Phantom 6 months old with SA Suntour 011 series lock-out forks added, hardly used, 20" frame.
Or my friend has offered me his rocky mountain slayer 30 2008 for £600...
Any opinions would be welcome
