Does anyone know whether it's possible to buy a hardtail 29er under 10kg for less than £2500. I've considered Planet X/ One One but wondered what else is out there.

Gotta be over, your frame/fork/cassette alone is well over £1500. Admittedly you could save a lot on that fork, non-XX is lighter too.
I reckon you could do it based on that frame (or an eBay special) if you choose the right parts. Reckon you'll struggle otherwise though frankly!0 -
@ pilch, what you doing in that pic, looking at your shadow?0

yes.... wanted to see how high I got
In that pic I was running 1x10 the bike weighed in @ 19.8lb... but it was too much like hard work on a lot of courses so I went 2x100 -

Have you had a look at any of the direct sales manufacturers like Canyon, Rose etc. They will do 29ers and will be the best chance of picking something up for a good spec down to weight and near your price.
A quick look at both of those says it's not quite achievable. The Rose Mr Big 8 is £100 more but is carbon and meets your weight requirement, the Canyon AL29 is alu and 10.9kg but significantly under budget.Trail fun - Transition Bandit

You can get a chinese frame for £200, a tad lighter than the one-one, I have a mate who has one, he's pretty happy with it, and VWsurfbum on this forum has one too.
I initially bought one but sent it back (with some hassle) as it had a fault, lots of others have bought them with no problems though...0 -
I had a 26" one which was fine too, would recommend.0
