Bit of a strange one this but here goes.
I'm looking for somewhere to live in Aberdeen as I've just taken a job there.
I plan to stay there throigh the week but return "home" most weekends.
Does anyone have (or know someone who has) a room to let in a shared flat?
I'm working just south of the city centre and will be travelling by train so would prfer somewhere not too far from the train station.
Are there any areas to avoid?
PM about rooms, feel free to post here about areas.
Cheers,
Paul

Not much use but you are a week too late as I had one next door to me.
I am in the same boat so not that much local info but from what I've seen, I would avoid Kittybrewster. I know that there are other dodgy areas which I can't remember the names of but that's one I've cycled through a few times.
I'm sure others will chip in.......None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.0 -
err dont live in sandilands
nice bits near town as areas
king street (has foot ball traffic there and around the stadium)
the spittal
torry, can be a bit wild in places...
ruthrieston and broomhill nice
ferryhill, bon accord is nice
rosemount is nice, same as union grove
kittybrewster is not that bad
also consider dyce, there is a train station there so quick connect
lot of new flats on south college street
there should be ads online in gumtree and union street tends to be a train wreck on a sat nite... dont live on it0 -
My girlfriends actually looking too. Not sure if it'd be of help!
I've sent her a link to the thread sure she'll be in touch if she thinks its worthwhile.0 -

I lived in Aberdeen for five years, so I'm digging up old memories about the area. Avoid Tillydrone, it's a scumhole. Torry was starting to clean itself up a bit in my time, but was still a bit rough.
As a personal rule of thumb, anywhere within the triangle formed by Bedford Road, the A96 and King Street tends to be fairly sound because it's close to the University and is therefore very studenty, as opposed to rough.
George street and surrounding area up to Kittybrewster aren't too bad, as are most of the roads to the east of King Street around Pittodrie Park (lived in a flat on Urquart Road for a couple of years - Estampida is right, the football crowds can be a pain, but only usually when it's Rangers, so nothing to worry about for a few years ).0
