To me, it would be between the rockrider 8.0 and the carrera vulcan. Always get the best bike you can afford, so ignore the lower spec hardtails. With the full sus, a hardtail of the same price is nearly always going to be better, especially at that price point. A cheap full sus like that will be heavy and the spec will be compromised, not really worth bothering with, you won't enjoy riding it as much as it'll be heavy and just a pain to ride around.

The rockrider 8.0 has 9sp gearing and decent brakes, however the vulcan has a better fork. i'd probably go for the rockrider myself and then upgrade the fork down the road some time.

    hope that helped

as above, especially this part ''A cheap full sus like that will be heavy and the spec will be compromised, not really worth bothering with'', it could be made better, like this one viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=12856785&hilit=rockrider, but buy the time you had finished spending, you might as well of bought a 9.1

What fork is on the rockrider 8.0 as it doesn't specify the make or model.

Suntour XCR. Not too sure on the differences between the two, but the carrera has a bit more travel, which is always preferable.

The XCR's are the better fork as they have magnesium lowers instead of alloy as used on the XCM v3. Which makes the Rockrider 8.0 the all round winner.
