Chain Slipping under load

Since I built up Amy (GT Force Carbon) it has increasingly develpoed a realy bad chain slip when under load for technical climbs and when losing traction whilst pedalling hard. so far I have indexed, re indexed and checked all the cable routing and tension and thats fine, cleaned the gear lines, the mechs are straight and running true and there is no play in the cassette. the chain is short enough with the mech at about half past four when in the largest gear combination
Im running a double and bash up front with a superstar double chain device and 9 speed at the rear. the cassette, chain were both brand new and the chain rings half a dozen rides old
All I can think of now is tightening the pivot bearings to try and eliminate any side to side play in the swing arm when I pedal hard, but is there anything else that anyone can think of.
The gears are perfectly indexed when on a stand or pedalled lightly, it is just under heavy load

Defo sounds like a flex issue.
Check it's all tight. What axel do you have on it?0 -
I recommend one of these - could be you spade is catching something.
This pic has nothing to do with anything.

the hub is a?
where is it slipping? front or rear?
yes i know it can be hard to see and keep your nuts but you have to have an idea to fix the issue."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Its a 12mm x 135 maxle, thats all tight, checked theres no play in the cassette as that had worked loose initially (well the superstar axle conversion kit had meaning the cassette had developed play)
Nicklouse, do you think I carry a spade when I ride, do you know how heavy those things are? I would if i could get a titanium one mind0 -
Cassette
My mate's Bokor visibly flexes on technical climbs (he's 19 stone on a good day) but the chain only slips when the cassette is worn.0 -

Cassette is now a grand total of half a dozen rides old and not worn at all.
Sorry Nick, read this last night on my phone so I'll remove spade credit. Its definately slipping at the back, the hub is a superstar switch0 -
Can you change the axle back to QR and see what happens then?0

Not really, I've not got another bike to put the wheel on and to change it on this one would mean spending 40 quid on new dropouts. think I'll strip the freehub though and make sure everything Is in order there, cheers guys0

Thought so, but the freehand did ping out the pawls when I converted the axle, and the axle worked a little loose on the kaiser challenge so doesn't hurt to belt and braces it and give that a looking over too0

This was happening to mine - indexed everything so that it ran up and down the cassette smoothly whilst on the workstand and changed cassette and chain thinking they might be worn.
It ended up being the bearings in my Hope Pro II hub. The cassette was able to wobble if you held it on both sides and pushed/pulled. This meant that when there was no pressure it ran fine but as soon as there was force it pulled the cassette out of line and the chain jumped.
Changed the bearings (or more accurately the LBS changed the bearings) and its running beautifully.
This was doing my nut in for weeks! Hope this helps...Ragley mmmBop
