Does anyone else use this app?
If you do how does the "route" part of the app work? Does it work like a sat-nav and tell you where to turn or do you have to work out the route for yourself?

Can we fix it?
Yes we can!

  • Yeah I use it - it doesn't do turn by turn sat nav - I am not sure any smart phone app's do (waits to be corrected) as you cant load compatible files to them of pre defined routes. Any apps with Sat Nav functions are road based to get you to and from a destination quickly, ie busy roads and motorways. You need a garmin/bryton etc if you need that.

As an app - its pretty good tracks well has all roads, including minor tracks, on it. Has some good social functions and posts to social media, fairly easy to use and the graphs of speed and height etc are straightforward. I also like the fact it hold certain records like you fastest 10km, 20km, 100km etc. The only thing it doesnt do (unless I missing something) is total the amount of climbing you do.

Personally I like Strava but my phone doesnt have it as an app I use Endomondo then export the ride out and import it to Strava - all in all takes 60 seconds. Endomondo great for more casual use, Strava for your competitive side.

I use it from time to time. I have a really bad habit of turning it off then riding. Only to get back hope and realise I've not enabled the GPS on my phone.

The map is good. But I've onyl found it useful post ride to look at where I've been only to allow me to alter the route on the next ride.

Yes, I've used Endomondo and Strava and definitely prefer the former. The interface might not be as slick as Strava, but seems to be more accurate at plotting routes especially when it comes to elevation (there's certainly not a 105.5% climb on my commute through central London as Strava would have me believe!). I like the 'Routes' functionality on Endomondo as well, allows me to keep track of nice routes that I've discovered and to plan new rides.

I know Strava is geared toward competition and beating people's times on different 'segments' but as with most things, as soon as it becomes too popular, people abuse it and post blatantly fraudulent times (as has been discussed at length here before).
