My 1st Sportive

Thanks to few guys advice here last week, I bought a bike last Saturday and since then I have clocked up 120 miles!
I am now looking to sign up to an event which will motivate me to keep training harder.
I want to start slow and not enter a highly competitive race. I have noticed this event which is local to me. Can anyone give me their opinion on these type of events?

I've never taken part in a sportive so I'm not the best person to give advice, but the reason is that I always feel that they sound expensive for what you get. I did my second Audax today. £7 for a great route (admittedly without signs, unlike a sportive) and as much cake as you can eat can't be bad.0
