Says that other teams are responsible for his lack of wins this year.

It remains my 2nd most disappointing element of this year that he hasn't been even a fraction of 2011. Without a doubt the other teams close him down faster than others but that doesn't stop the True Champions from getting results. Hopefully 2013 (lucky 13) will get him the results and performances to thrill us once again.

Rubbish. It's not like he was some unknown prior to his great 2011 season...2 x Lombardy, Amstel Gold, Het Volk etc.

He simply hasn't had the legs (or lungs) he had last year. This year when he's attacked he simply hasn't been able to gain any serious gaps. I hope he can find that form again for Lombardy/Worlds.

Both this year and last, Amstel Gold and Fleche Wallonne came down to essentially a sprint up the final hill. Last year he won both with ease, this year he was a bit off the pace. Nothing to do with other teams - he just wasn't as good this year.

Not sure I approve of him continuing to wear the Belgian colours on his helmet.

Put simply, I think he has the same problem as Cancellara has now, and Boonen and prossibly Sagan will have next year, no one will let them get an inch ahead cos they know they won't get them back!

Even so, i'm not sure Gilbert has been on tippity top form this year anyway...

The way he looked, waited, then did it very quickly was pretty funny.
