Not sure if this is the correctplace to post this, but hope I can get an answer.
Basically, do pro riders use tyre sealant?? I had always thought that it was too heavy, but the mechanic on last weeks ITV4 show 'The Cycle Show' said that Mark Cavendish had been using it in the tour.
Was he correct? Are pro riders using it now??

Sprinters might not want to puncture at the end of a stage, so they might use it... otherwise, there is no point in a PRO race, as they get the wheel changed in seconds
BTW: the ITV commentators talked a lot of tosh... I would say 50% of what they said was guessing, heard through the grapevine and made up stuff to fill the silenceleft the forum March 20230 -

Yep - and the comment could easily be a mis-interpretation/misunderstanding of a reference to the glue used to hold the tyres on.Faster than a tent.......0 -
I've never heard this. Wheel changes take seconds and the rider will be back in the bunch. I'd have thought they'd risk that rather than having extra weight in their wheels ?0

The guy did reference to it but I think it was regarding some training rides that MC did/does & not in competition.
He may even get paid to say it!B'TWIN Triban 5A

the sealant doesnt work all that well on road bikes with the higher pressure tyres. A situation made worse surely when using tubs at c.140+ psi.Death or Glory- Just another Story0

Pros don't ride pressures that high - only people who don't know any better.
The few riders using tubeless might ride with sealant, but that's all.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0 -
it was said MC used it on his training rides and suffered less P's than his teammates. The dissenter is every human being at those moments of his life when he resigns
momentarily from the herd and thinks for himself.0 -
According to this article, Sky and Lampre amongst others use it at PR:
