Road leavers and shifters with mtb mechs and brakes

Evening all; I'm in need of a bit of advice.
I'm currently running an on one inbred 29er with a SRAM x7 9 speed rear mech and a shimano deore 3 speed front mech and a SRAM 11-34T cassette. I've got a set of road tyres that I use from time to time but now im toying with the idea of a set of drop bars for it too.
Now, my question is can I buy a set of leavers that'll work with my current mech's and a set of mechanical disc brakes (bb5's etc.)?
I've seen some pictures of "monstercross" type bikes, so it looks like it can be done but does anyone know what I need to make it work?

Rear mech should work (if its not 10speed) front will not and nor will the brakes. Avid have a cx specific caliper for road levers.0

You could use Cane Creek or Tektro drop bar levers for V brakes and reuse the MTB shifter on the drop bars
As MTB bars are narrower than road bars you'll need to attack them with a metal file but this isn't difficult
I've fitted MTB gear shifters intended for flat bars on a couple of bikes. most recently on my old Ti bike and also on a Cotic Roadrat with Alfine0
