Hi, just joined but have been reading lots of posts for some time with great interest.
Bought a second hand mountain bike, a carrera vulcan with standard brakes, black and silver. 22 inch frame 26 inch wheels 21 speed all shimano stuff on it. dual sis??
Brakes say promax and are kinda quick release things to get to rubber blocks.
Front forks are suntour.
Needs new cassette/crank set/possible rear derailleur/ bearings are ball type, removed spindle cones etc not cassette yet. There was play in rear wheel side to side.
Does anyone know what year this model is? Any recommendation for parts needed etc. :?: :?:

Thank you and hello :D:D:D:D

A picture might help people identify the bike, unfortunately not everyone can memorise specs and it's a bit broad!

Suntour make a lot of forks, any more info?

Vulcan has been about for years. A v brake equipped one is probably a few years old but for a replacement crankset, a 63/73mm bottom bracket shimano crankset will likely work - go for deore to get cheap but good, SLX , XT or XTR for more bling if budget works.

Play in the wheel - replace the bearings and cones - £10.

I assume you are trying to get this thing running ont he cheap so you can get a second hand Hollowtech II crank, bearings and what not you can pick up from Halfords or somewhere similar.
