Cotswold Autumn Classic Sportive - 7th October

Right then boys, girls and those inbetween.

Has anyone ridden the above sportive over the couple of years that it has been running? My company (Head Office in Cirencester) has pre-booked 200 places for this year's ride, which will be organised as a charity event for the company's charity foundation, and so i'm considering entering. Any comments to be made on the route / organisation etc etc?? I'm 150 miles away so it'll be a weekend trip down there for me.

    It's a bit hard to comment on the route when the organisers haven't decided on one yet. :D Plenty of hills around here though, so I'd expect to see a few climbs.

    I guess it hasnt been a fixed route over the past couple of years then. Well i think i'll enter anyway - should be a good ride if there's plenty of colleagues entering it. I rode with 50+ of them last year on a Cork - Dublin ride (with Michael Vaughn too)

    as it says brand new route theres no way to predict really, but having done a few Cotswolds sportives and plenty of rides down there, then a 100 mile route is likely to be quite lumpy with a good few short sharp climbs. They might choose to be brutal and take you up the 20-25% sections that will have 90% of people walking before the top (yep, even most of the best club riders will be off and walking) or it could just be a constantly rolling route...

    the route is now up - the 100 miler has a rolling first half and then it kicks in!

    The maps on the web site are a bit rubbish, but it looks like the big climbs are around Broadway and out of Winchcombe.

    Just wanted to bump this up and say what a great Sportive it was - great route and great organisation. Well worth doing again - bargain at £24.

    Ahh, I wondered what all the signage was about.

    By coincidence there was a marvellously organised audax on the same day, the Falling Leaves organised by Winchcombe Cycling Club. It only cost £5 but we obviously did not get the signage that would have been provided on the Classic. There was plenty of food, etc, for the 80 of us.

    What a great day out - The Cotswold at its best!
