Replacement 'U' for Abus lock?

Hi all,
I guess this is a long shot, but...
Having lived with an old U-lock (20cm long, fine for 99% of all places I ever tried to lock my bike), when I bought my new bike I decided to buy a more secure lock to go with it, and thought that maybe a 30cm long model would be even more versatile. But in fact I find it's a complete pain to carry, awkward to use on confined spaces etc etc, and I'd really like to swap the 'U' for a shorter one, but I'd prefer not to pay another £50 for a whole new lock.
Has anyone ever seen spare 'U's for sale? There's no mention of them in Abus's price lists etc.
