Cannondale supersix sizing?

Hi,

Recently test rode a supersix in 56 and it felt slightly large, so was wondering if anyone has any advice for me as there are no 54's available in my area to test ride for a while

I'm 180cm - 5,11. With a 33 inch inseam

I ride a 56 equilibrium and comparing the geometry, ignoring the compact frame on the genesis, the geometry is not much different, slightly longer top tube on the cannondale but I have a longer stem on the equilibrium so makes it pretty similar

Does anyone have a supersix? And what size do you have for your height? Not sure if it is just psychological because of the standard geometry on the cannondale making me think it looks bigger than it actually feels

Any help would be greatly appreciated before i take a risk

Cheers

    I recently purchased a 54 Supersix.
I'm 5'9" with a 30" inseam. Short legs but normal up top!
Standard stem and It fits me fine.

    Great bike. :D

I have short legs for my height.

    I am 6' 4.5" with a 34.5" inseam and went for a 60cm Cannondale SuperSix. Fits perfectly.

Surely if you tried a 56 and it felt too big then common sense would say to get the 54.

I have a 56 Systemsix. Same Geometry as the Supersix. I'm the same height as yourself.
120 mm stem and the saddle is in the middle position. All fits quite nicely.
I do use compact bars that I found made it much more of a comfortable position.
  • I know what you mean saying if it feels too big, it probably is.

The thing is as soon as I saw it I thought it looked big, and not sure whether that has instantly made me feel it's too big.

Probably me being daft but thought id see if other people share my size, then I'll go back and test ride again. Really don't want to spend that much money on a 54 that I've never test rode and could be too small

The Super6's 'look' big due to tne size of tne tubing ... I bought a 50cm and was convinced it was bigger then my old Six13 in the same size ... I measured every single tube and it was identical ... Only diff. was the comedy cone spacer, but fear not, there is a sensible one hidden underneath ... A quick trip to the lbs and removal of the cone and another spacer and a cut of the steerer sorted my issue ... My new bike is now identical to my last in geometry (as far as the stuff I can fiddle with) ... Still looks a size too big but it's not ...

Go with the theory of any bike that you need a 100mm or 110mm stem for likely fits ... Unless you are a giant or a pro ... (it's a simple idea but works quite well) ...

I'm 6'1" and ride a 56 Supersix. On paper I should maybe ride a 58... but i tried one and didn't like it... The 56 felt nimble and comfortable.

    I'm 179cm and would ride a 54cm supersix with 110 or 120 stem. Saddle height is 76cm.

I could ride a 56 but don't like the feel of the longer bike underneath me or the handling of a shorter stem.

Drop to bars on this setup is going to be around 9cm.

Basically if you go for a 54, make sure you can take the drop to bars.

A few other things to consider:

The Genesis headangle is fairly slack so this brings your bars closer to you.

The Genesis has an external headset which adds about another 30mm to the "effective headtube length" or whatever you want to call it.

I wouldnt use any less than a 110mm stem really, 120mm would be better.

What sort of bars do you have on the Genesis? Some short reach compacts could sort you out if you went for the 56 Cannondale.

I'm 5'8 with a measured 32 inch inseam. I tried a 54 the other day but after being used to a 50cm Boardman (too small), i'm wondering if to go with the 52. It fit well to the bar with the spacers about half way but wanted more drop so thought it might make it a little too long in the reach. Need to find a 52!

OP im the same height as you, but with a 32" leg, and found a 54 felt a bit cramped, and the 56 felt spot on, but i have got long arms!
Had it 6 months now and i love it, lovely smooth handling and really feels light when pedalling.
