I put a thread up a few weeks ago regarding upgrading my Defy 4 to a better bike, and was almost unanimously told just to keep it and upgrade the groupset instead.

It's currently got an 8 speed 2300 setup on there, what parts do I need to change it to a 10 speed 105/Ultegra?

I'm assuming the following :-

Shifters
Front and rear derailleur
Cassette

Anything else I need please?

    fresh cables
possibly grip tape depending on how the shifters are mounted

how old is the current running gear? a new set of chain rings might not be a terrible idea

one thing worth considering, by the time you have priced up the individual components, you may get close to the cost of the complete groupset.... a complete set wouldn't have any compatibility issues and you'd get everything, have a look at ribble, merlin and bikediscount.de
