Fox Fork and shock servicing

Just went and bought an Orange 5 pro which has the 140mm Fox Float CTD forks and the Fox CTD rear shock, Reading through the info about the bike it says Service the forks and shock after 30 hours use and send away for an annual/100 hour service to a fox specialist. What I am struggling to find on the net is what the 30 hour service entails, My LBS says send away for a service but the book doesnt say send away so I am presuming it can be done at home or by a shop rather than a send away job. Any help or pointers. Is it a suitable DIY job?

For the forks you just drop the lowers, clean the wipers and change the oil. Once you've done it a couple of times, with the right tools, it's a 15min job.

just keep the shiny bits clean, after each ride, keep the seals relatively dirt free, should be fine

30 hours could be just 4 rides for someone! lube the seals very lighty once and a while with Brunox Deo Fork Lube or Fork Juice

  • Cool that doesnt look too bad to do, Well within my DIY skills. Do you need to de-pressurise the air before dropping the legs off?

  • What about the 30 hour service on the rear shock is it similarly simple?

Or you could do what the majority of Fox owners do - just ride them, and either send them away for a service once a year, or just when they feel funny.

Have a look at the Mojo website. The have service vids on there. you can also find some on you tube, but I would only recomend the commercial ones. The rear shock is really easy and no special tools are required. I get the kit from Mojo and do it but perhaps not as often as every 30 hrs.

    try this.... http://www.mojo.co.uk/mtb.html

Is there a parrot in here?

Anyway, I'd just learn to service them yourself and do it once every 8 or so months.

Those 'parrots' pop up regularly. Presumably some sort of bot.

I run 36 Floats and I service them when I notice the performance drop off or I know they've been hammered and are due a service. That's normally monthly. The Float rear shocks aren't so bad when it comes to servicing. I just service it every 3-4 months and that's just unscrewing the air can, cleaning it out and putting clean Float Fluid in it.
  • Cool I have found videos showing what to do for both items now, I am happy that I can quite easily do both services. However what I cannot find is the amount of fork oil to put into my fork lowers during the service, All the tables online I have found dont have my forks on them. I think maybe a call to Mojo for advice when I order some float fluid and fork oil is is order.
