I bought the following tool from CRC
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... delID=7975

I thought that I would have a spanner big enough in my toolbox but no luck
I have measured the size of the "bolt" on the tool and it comes at 25.5mm, does this imply that I need a 26mm spanner? Or is it a different size?
Thanks

Big ass shifter. But are you sure you are measuring correctly?

Thanks cooldad, but I have already got the tool. Should have gone for the one you pointing to, but I was thinking that I would have the relevant spanner. For the measurement I am using one of those electronic measurement tool (From Aldi), so I would say that it is correct. Someone in the review for the tool mention a 1" spanner, which I think translate to a 25mm spanner.

Take it into a Halfords or somewhere and measure a few spanners against it.
I have a similar thing for BB and just use a big shifter.

Well, since the spanner will cost you roughly as much as the entire tool that CD has shown you, I'd just get the tool (those style with the central spigot are better anyway)
    And 1 inch = 25.4mm.

    It's a 26mm spanner you need.

Well, that's what fitted mine. I had a number of them in the Clank Skunkworks, luckily.

Sorry to disappoint you, no. I am like a combination of George Clooney, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Liza Minelli.

But I won't disclose which bits.

Liza Minelli's forehead and ears, Arnie's upper lip and teeth, Clooney's lower lip, Arnie's breasts, Liza's arms, and Clooney's anus by any chance?

Thanks guys, I will do that, taking the tool to Halfords and see what is needed. If more expensive than the tool linked by CD I will count my losses and get it. That's me rushing to get things and not doing enough research.

Just buy a big adjustable spanner (thumbie, shifter whatever you wanna call it) they are useful for lots of jobs not just on bikes so if you have one of them and the tool you can still use the spanner for other things where as if you buy the other tool as well you only have the tool. Make sure you get a big enough adjustable though.

Yep, adjustable spanners are great at.. Er. Great at rounding off bolts. The handy thing is, they adjust to round off all sizes of nuts and bolts
