Yes, it's dull but oh so necessary since I saved and saved and finally bought my beautiful Santa Cruz Nomad carbon.. Problem is, with the other bikes my OH and I have, our home insurance won't now cover the value of the bikes. What insurance do you guys and girls with multiple bikes have? Important that they will cover the bikes outside of the home too. The best I've found so far is More Than at £70 a month but that still only gives £5000 cover whilst on holiday etc. Any suggestions/tips welcome.

surely if you can afford a nomad carbon you can just hire a security guard to look after it for you? or a golden palace to store it in protected by an army of platinum automatons wielding golden uzis and maces?

if not, then have a look at insuring the bikes separately using a company that specialises in it. There are loads out there, use Google to find them. I have a £2000 bike insured for about £11 a month against theft and crash damage. I know it adds up, but I have nothing else that really needs insuring!

I've only briefly looked into the subject but seems that typically home insurance will only cover you for in-expensive bikes and under very limited conditions, although you can pay for extra add ons etc.

But seems as if you are after a very comprehensive level of cover. Which if you get it though home insurance you'll either end up paying more and/or still won't over all the situations you might want.

A separate bike specialist cover might work out better and cheaper?
  • I'm with budget... House content plus bike in and out the house upto £2500. Under £10 a month.

Got a valuation from my lbs and the policy is new for old.

My 2p on the subject. Make sure you read all small print as insurance usually require you to purchase approved lock and bike must be stored according to their policy. They usually only cover you with standard off the shelf price so any upgrades will be your loss.
I used to work in the industry and sometimes it even matters when you put your claim trough :)
