    You should take the bike.
The missus and I did our 1st 100 miler around the coast of anglesey last weekend.

Some of the roads are great, some were edging towards cyclocross, but thats my fault for just planning a route on Garmin Connect around the coast without really looking where I was going.

Just avoid the A55 to avoid truckers, and general traffic.

The foreign truck drivers tend to stick to the A55 (dual carriageway) and a lot of the traffic follows the north and south A roads. The road from Menai Bridge to Beaumaris is pretty narrow and busy with coaches. The back roads are pretty quiet.

Someone who rides in the area should have more info, I just tend to drive in the area.

My other passion takes me there this very week. NG Roadracing are at Anglesey Race Circuit this weekend (Motorcycles) - small world!!!

I tend to cycle round the track in the evenings - no traffic probelms at all :-)

defo take your bike - i tend to cycle on the south side of the A55 (avoid at all costs) around rhosneigner and newborough and on the A5 the roads are not too busy and go through some nice places
if you get over as far as beaumaris/penmon/llanddona there are some good hills (infact anglesey is not flat as lots think)
also the sustrans routes are well signposted all around anglesey and stay off the main roads but do take plenty of puncture repair stuff as you can be quite far away from anywhere
and you`d be daft not to make your way into the mountains for a couple of rides
if you want to cycle to abersoch then you have 2 options -
from treaddur bay to caernarfon is straightforward plenty of signposts national route 8 - either along the coast newborough etc as above or straight down the A5 not A55 - there is a choice of cyclepath or main road from the mainland to caernarfon - either will do - although the cycle path will take you closer to the sea and follow a nice sightseeing tour even though there are a few gates and will be some dog walkers on the path - then from caernarfon to abersoch
    1. fastest and shortest - A499 is a big wide but fast road and is ok to cycle on (there is a cycle pavement but we normally stay on the road) it will take you all the way to abersoch but will be quite busy as is the main transport route through pwllheli - a good option on this route is to turn for nefyn at LLanaelaearn roundabout - beware some good hills and hairpin corners on the decents - then back towards pwllhelli or the longer way round towards aberdaron
    2. cycle path - runs parallell to the A487 (avoid this road) is tarmac all the way to bryncir - with gates every few miles but is still an enjoyable cycle away fromm traffic - once that finishes make your way south along the lleyn peninsula and you will end up in pwllheli and again on the A499 to abersoch but without the option of nefyn

check the sunstans website for the routes of the cycle path

let me know if you want any more info - but let us know if you want a fast fide just to get there or a nice scenic ride? and if you have a garmin 705/800 i`ll draw you a map

    cheers

Do not even think about leaving the bike at home, so many brilliant rides to have here!
Plenty of roadies around recently too.
The road from Menai bridge to Beaumaris is narrow, but I've never had any problems on it and its a quick ride and has a decent enough surface.
Don't let it put you off coming this side of Anglesey, you could always go the long way through Llandegfan to avoid it anyway.

Word of warning, its utter bullshit when they say Anglesey is flat. True, there aren't many Long hills but some of them are silly gradients, for example the one to and from LLanddona beach which is sign posted as a 40%, or the bloody 35% I have to do every time I go on a ride.

If your going to be down the Menai Bridge/Beaumaris side at all I thoroughly recommend the 'llanddona circuit' which can be found on Strava, nice and gentle ride through some lovely roads! Takes you right past my house too so keep an eye out for a guy in Castelli on a focus :)
And you can pop into Beau's Tea room In Beaumaris for a coffee and a scone on the way home (Pink one along the main road, next to the oldest house.) Have to give it a plug, my girlfriends family own it!

Have a day in the mountains too, some stunning climbs to be had up there.
Me and a mate are going to go to Betws Y coed via Llanberis pass soon, if your bringing your climbing legs perhaps worth a trip?

Just pray this shit weather goes away before you come
