Try before you buy?

Hello folks. Apologies if I've missed it, but I have looked around a fair bit and can't find an answer to this question.
Currently commuting 11k each way on a GT Traffic hybrid, which is fine for now, but I'm very keen to move on to a proper road bike using CTW scheme. It seems like there are good arguments for a single speed as well, but I would definitely want to try one out for a week or two before committing to one rather than a road bike.
Is there anywhere in London that hires out ss bikes for, say, a week at a time? I realise it won't be all that cheap, but I'd rather invest that money into being sure I'm buying the right bike.
And fyi, the road bike I'm thinking of is the Specialized Allez. Don't have my eye on any particular ss bike yet, but am willing to have my head turned.....
