Have just completed my Whyte 19C light XC build but just need a carbon seatpost, 30.9 and at least 350mm. Does anyone know of any good deals out there? Thx

The planet x seat post is only 27.2mm----

Im guessing he will shim them? Id get the Exotic one. Cheaper and lighter and CC make some damn fine VFM parts.0

I will shim. Seems many carbon posts are 27.2 or 31.6. I'm 14 stone and a bit put off by the review of the exotic post...

I'd personally go for an FSA post, They make quality products.0

I have the exotic post, and long term the adjustment stays. Took a while to sort of bed in, but once it did - 170g for that money?0

Havent bought one yet :-( Now I'm being drawn by the Thomson Elite's (I know its not carbon) because so many people rave abou them......

Also considering the FSA K-Force light on Planet X except I cant find a shim to go from 29.4 to 30.9....

I'm looking to save some weight but also hoping to take out some trail buzz. So whats my best bet, K-Force, Thomson, SLK or Exotic?0 -

I'd say give this one a try also, the money/weight combo is incredible, will order one tomorrow hopefully.dry664 wrote:Havent bought one yet :-( Now I'm being drawn by the Thomson Elite's (I know its not carbon) because so many people rave abou them......

For XC the Thomson is over the top really, it's heavier than others.
Look at my topic here was in the same boat as you regarding post etc.

Also I seen a chart with which posts could take the most force, and the K-Force was bottom I think (Or close to bottom)
This was my final list: (Going with the eXotic)
eXotic Carbon Titanium: 173g
Kore T-Rail: 205g
Easton EC70 Zero Carbon: 215g
Controltech Team Issue 1: 220g
FSA SL-K Carbon: 224g
Thomson Elite: 228g0 -
I was leaning toward the exotic but just realised im running around 25mm layback with the current post and seat postion combined. I think the carbon ti's are inline? Dont want to spend £90 on a Cobra0

Easton EC70 is £50 from Merlin at the moment.(Layback version too).
Another option might be a KCNC scandium post Ti or SC Pro.
Thomsons are beautifully made and strong but from my experience running one on my hardtail can be a little harsh.Fine on my full suss though!2006 Giant XTC
2010 Giant Defy Advanced
2016 Boardman Pro 29er
2016 Pinnacle Lithium 4
2017 Canondale Supersix Evo0 -
KCNC's look good but once again the Ti Pro is an inline post. Dont think I will be able to get 25mm of saddle offset with that0
