Hi al,
I ride a fixed wheel road bike and recently did the Manc - Blackpool on it. On general flats I had no probs keeping up with road bike riders however downhill there was no chance! I noticed one lad who's tactic was to take his feet off the pedals downhill?! He was going much faster than me downhill, is this the way to ride it? Im doing the Ride with Brad this Sunday and dont want to get left behind on the hills.
Thanks

Dont take your feet off the pedals - one bump and you're off the saddle.
The only thing that helps is practice - there are guys in my club who ride the track and their cadences are brilliant - you never notice that they're on a fixed wheel.
I usually drag a brake on a fast descent - its the only way I can cope.0 -
Brilliant advice,
Thanks

I would definitely keep my feet on the pedals, much safer way to control the speed (I'm assuming you only have a front brake?) Also remember you can't lean in to the corners as much as the cranks are constantly turning. As Cougie says, practice is the only way really.0

Cheers,
Ive actually got both brakes as my daily commute is through central Manchester and dont trust the traffic!
Thanks for the help
