Was looking at the Preffisio as a winter trainer vs a Genesis Aether and a Kinesis TK2.

On the Dolan site it states the frame weighs 1820 grams.....sounds a little high for a ally frame? Anyone have one?

Alternatively, anyone know they weight of a Aether frameset?

I like mine. I don't know anything of the Genesis but I think the Dolan is more racy than the Kinesis. The head tube is noticeably shorter than on many bikes and it has a long top tube. It also takes standard rather than long drop brake calipers, this somewhat limits you to 23mm tyres if you run mudguards.

The weight, I would say, is more honest compared to some manufacturers' more optimistic figures. It certainly doesn't feel heavy on the road.

I used to ride a Kinesis RC2 and that was one of the best handling bikes I've ridden, I imagine the TK2 rides nicely as well. It would have been high on my list but for the price; the Dolan is a good bit cheaper. Oh, and I'm pretty sure the Ribble winter frame is the same but cheaper still.

    Hope that helps.

  • I just had a Dolan Preffisio frameset delivered and I'm partway through building it up with an Apex groupset. I have been pretty impressed by the frame, although I haven't had it out on the road quite yet. As Rob mentioned, it does take standard drop brakes and, with mudguards, this does limit you to 23mm tyres. However, that's exactly what I need so it suits me fine.

I'm going to have full mudguards and lights etc, so that it'll be winterproof! First impressions are its a good bike for the money, I'll post some pics when I'm done.

I don't have them fitted to mine, but the SKS Bluemels are supposed to be the best match.
