Sram Crankset
Hi.
Was looking at removing the crankset today to service and re-grease the BB. Not a massive problem in itself but when loosening the crank arms I encountered some resistance. After a couple of turns of the requisite tool, the allen bolt stopped turning and I didn't want to pressure it anymore just incase.
Anyone got any ideas? Does it just turn a couple of turns then the arm is gently tapped off?
Thanks in advance.

what cranks? and fitting?
selfextracting bolt that pulls the arm off?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Sounds right for the Rival Chainset - as ^^^ - its a self extracting bolt, and you've got to the point where it will start to push the arm off now that you have reached the point of increased resistance. More leverage and it will come off easily enough i'm sure.0

As above, bolt loosens on the axle then tightens against the extracting plug. Keep undoing and the crank will pull itself off the axle.0

Ah thanks for this, fellas. Was panicking incase I broke anything.
Edit: and now I've just stripped down and serviced my BB on my Boardman Carbon. Easy as owt. How much do shops charge this service?0 -
It's shocking how simple most of the maintenance stuff is to do yourself but which the LBS would charge a fortune and probably hold on to your bike for a few days until they did it.I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.0
