Handlebar mount for Edge 800

After switching back to my shorter (PX Carbon) stem and dropping the bars, I now (again) have an issue with mounting the Edge 800 on the stem .

The basic issue is that the PX Stem is triangular shaped as well as a lot wider/deeper than a standard stem, not helped by the fact that I haven't cut the steerer tube on my forks.
I am both reluctant to cut the steerer tube (will be swapping the frame / forks hopefully soon) as well as the PX Carbon stem being really stiff.

With my Edge 800 currently on the bars, it is both a little bit in the way as well as it moves around with vibration etc.

Anyway, enough of the background... getting to the point....

I am looking for a bar mount for the Edge 800 that will put the computer centrally and a little in front of the bars. Options appear to be:

- K-Edge (no stock anywhere, although it looks the best)
- BarFly (only found stock in the USA via Ebay, but not much cheaper than the K-Edge)
- Racewaredirect.co.uk (not much cheaper than the K-Edge, but it's made on a 3D printer from plastic)

The K-Edge is expensive... but it's got to the point where I don't care hope much it costs (within reason). I'm not a DIY person (don't have the time)... so ideally looking for something off the shelf.

Anyone know if the K-Edge is in stock anywhere or a cheaper or just as good alternative?

  • The K-Edge is starting to appear in the UK now. Watch Sigma daily as they do get dribs and drabs in. Red was in stock for a few days, as was the gun metal colour, but I've yet to see the black one show as in stock.

Pre ordred mine at the start of July and that's it here now (albeit at the feckin Post Office depot).

Yes it's expensive, yes there are cheaper alternatives like the plastic jobs and no doubt the Chinese will be flogging a knock off via ebay for £10 in a few months but NONE of them come with a lifetime guarntee that will give you a replacement if you break it.

I bought a BarFly from ProBikeKit in July - arrived quickly and is remarkably study given that it's just solid plastic. Holds the 800 firmly with no noticable vibration - puts the computer in a much better position than the stem mount. Heartily recommend it.

Just to add. I already have a Barfly and its great but I have just invested in another bike and wanted a mount for it also. I would not hesitate in getting another Barfly however there were/are none to be had just now hence my reasons for getting the K-Edge. As TGD pointed out above these have a lifetime warranty so in future I may stick with K-Edge. I already have one of their chain catchers and they are very well machined etc. albeit there is not much to them.

    Thanks for the replies.

I have pre-ordered the K-Edge one from Sigma Sport... hopefully will get it towards the end of the month.

Just as a FYI, Southforkracing.co.uk sold their last one this morning and have stated 24th September for the next batch & Sigma Sport are quoting 30th August.
