    Yes.

The Boardman is lighter, better forks, brakes, wheels, groupset.

The voodoo is still a good bike but if your budget stretches to the Boardman i would go for it.

For the price your looking at I'd look on the classifieds for a 2nd hand will get a lot more better spec, or eBay seen some nice bikes go fairly cheap.

I would never buy a bike from halfords personally.

Or you could make a serious mistake, with big repair costs and no warranty.

Could I ask why you wouldn't buy a bike from Halfords?

    This on all counts.

Many of the 2nd hand bikes I'm seeing around that price point only offer marginally better value (on the face of it).

Plus no dealer support, no warranty and no idea if it really only has done 50miles from new, or if it's lived in a hedge and done a million miles a day.

Plus, at the moment, I see a lot of 2nd hand bikes going for significantly more than they're worth.

The only thing I purchase from there are car cleaning products ie the megs foam applicator pads and megs shampoo.

As for bikes not into Boardman at all

Yeah I always do my research if buying 2nd hand, forums are a good source though,
As for warranty issues bought a gt zaskar carbon team a few yrs back and sods law frame developed a crack in the rear triangle near the seat tube. Wot a nitemere going through the dealers to get a replacement.

Tbh though bikes prices have massively gone through the roof in the last few years now a days your paying for the name and frame as for the components even on 2k + bikes your lucky to get xt now a days

The real reason he won't buy a bike from Halfords.
Probably wears tight jeans and rides a fixie.

The one you linked to. I have no idea of the spec of the Marin.
    And which 29er range?

Try offering some info or the thread will degenerate once again.
