Baby C59 - Alloy Training bike
Say Hi to my 'Baby' C59 training bike. She's not a real C59, but the result of a long weekend spent with my compressor and spray gun and ... lots of very careful masking. I've always loved the designs of colnagos - Their paint designers understand how to transform the timeless geometry by using colour and lines.
I've had this alloy frame for 10 years and in that time its seen several transformations. Its a good solid frame and fits me well. Its equipped with a well maintained 105 group-set and Tecno 020 wheels. After several years riding I've come to the quite brilliant conclusion that most bikes ride well if you care for the cables, bearings, tyres and chain.
I have had several high end bikes - Madones, SL2's, and even a Storck secenario with Rsys wheels, and yes they were fast - but I never 'loved' them. Over time those 'pro- racers' have been and gone whilst my Baby C59 remains steadfast.
The other small addition is my Nobi race-plate ( http://www.nobi.co.uk). Its a gift from a friend who thought I'd like the number 101 (wiggins). Why not!
This simple, low cost bike clocks over 150 miles each week with no issues. And because its alloy I will never lose her to 'carbon delamination.' Next year she may be an M10 or even an SL4. Who knows what wonders a long weekend with the spray gun might bring next.
Thanks for looking - Mr. Badbrush.

Race Plate was a gift - bought online from www.nobi.co.uk0 -
Sorry Wrong on so many levels.
I appreciate not every one (myself included) can afford the 7K plus for a descent C59 build, and the paintwork is a great job,
But why make it out to be something it isnt, looks like a great bike for what it is in the first place.0 -
No doubt you're just a few hours away from spray painting Angelina Jolie's face onto your missus ... Clown ...0

You have a good skill, why not put it to good use and design something special and unique.
Copying a C59 or any other frame for that matter ain't right.
Sorry but when I bought two frames from China for my kids, the last thing I would ever have done would have been to make it something it ain't, so I called them Laurello and Danarello after my kids names.0 -

It fooled me. Looks the business..0

I don't get it.I don't mean to brag, I don't mean to boast, but I'm intercontinental when I eat French toast...0

Oh come on folks! I detest fake Pinarellos but this doesn't look anything like a C59 under the paint. It's like sticking a Rolls Royce grill on a Mini - nobody's going to be fooled and it's more funny than anything.Faster than a tent.......0

Tried looking again, sorry just not feeling the love. Nice bike though.I don't mean to brag, I don't mean to boast, but I'm intercontinental when I eat French toast...0

It doesn't look like a C59 but the quality of the paint job from these photos looks excellent.Insta: ATEnduranceCoaching

Exactly right Rolf and Napoleon.
Common people ... remember when you were a kid ... and you used a clothes peg to hold a piece of card in your back wheel to make it sound like a motorbike? Well this is just that. Aspirations. Dreams. Fun. It's time to throw off the Polar pace-maker and grow a little younger again. Don't take it all so seriously and enjoy the ride.
And I'm in agreement with those who believe buying OEM frames from China is both dangerous, and immoral. Its not worth the risk. Heaven knows how thin the carbon is laid on those back-door OEM lugs. Anyone buying one for themselves, or children, is being irresponsible. This post was about my love of bikes and airbrushing and having fun with with an late 90's frame thats been with me for years and will - hopefully - be with me for many more years to come.
And in response to being called a 'clown' - We can't all be Lion Tamers.0 -

Thats a bit harsh.
Its not something I would personally do to one of my bikes, but you have done a cracking job.0 -
I really like what you've done, wish I had your skill!"That's it! You people have stood in my way long enough. I'm going to clown college! " - Homer0

I like it - and I like that you like it.
don't really get the anonymous invective towards it and its owner. :roll:0 -
Did you use decals for the logos - or do you spray paint / mask everything?
Looks great to me.0 -
I think it's great. From what you've written you seem to have a much more sensible take on bikes than most people who think they are going to be so much faster on the latest carbon frame. Riding bikes is supposed to be fun.
Hope you enjoy riding it.0 -
Well, Angelina Jolie is quite fit... Paint job looks great, 99% of people in the UK wouldn't even know what a Colnago is, you seem to be having fun with it and are pleased with it so don't worry about the haters :-)0

So Nap if I put my Kaffenbach on here spayed up as a Cervelo S5 against an Orange garage door, in the middle ring with the stem pointing to the moon and the bars turned round to make cow horns , the tyre logos at 90 degrees to the valves and the cranks parallel to the top tube, You wouldnt say a word?
Its a nice bike, Its a great spray job, so why make it out to be something it Aint, its like saying its not good enough as what it is, and it clearly was.0 -
Yes, because it would look sh1t.
This doesn't look sh1t, it's a good spray job and a good looking bike in general.
Don't care if it's sprayed up to look like a C59. Those that know about bikes know it isn't a C59, those that don't know about bikes don't know what the hell a Colnago C59 is anyway. So it doesn't really matter.
Edit: having said that, if it was an actual S5 then that would look sh1t anyway. Horrible looking things!Insta: ATEnduranceCoaching

Fair play Nap your a man of principle.
Just think as some others have said that the man has got talent and should use it to strike out in his own direction.
Timmy Turbo has a bright orange defy on here that really isnt to many's taste but you cant deny the quality of the paint work and finish, and its unique.
Did you see the guy on here who had the FMO15 that he made up to look like a Madone Project one (Livestrong theme), did a good job of it, but it was just wrong.
Tongue in cheek Irony a la Chinarello is great but IMO this even though obviously not a C59 sails too close to the wind.0 -
