Shimano BB-5503 removal
Hello
Never removed a BB before. Am I right in thinking that this is a splined octolink BB? How do you remove this BB? I have a toolkit with a crank puller but when I take the dust caps out the BB is hollow so do I need an additional tool for the crank puller to push against?
Thanks

You need a crank puller with a bigger end on it lik this -
Or you can use a little plug thing like the Shimano TL-FC15 like this with a small ended puller -

The crank puller tool in the above post is for separating the chainset from the bottom bracket.
If you want to remove the bottom bracket itself you'll need an extra tool for this.
I used the Tacx BB Remover along with a 32mm spanner to remove my Octalink BB and it did the job well.

Some octalink cups also need a 8 pin BB tool. Park do one.http://www.thecycleclinic.co.uk -wheel building and other stuff.0
