Kids downhill clothing

My 8 year old son is a keen mountain biker and we hit the trail centres as often as we can. Until now he has been happy riding in his club cycling top and baggies, but is now nagging me for some downhill style gear.

He won't be racing yet, and for longer trail centre rides he will wear what he does now (will keep him cool). But he really wants some downhill pants and top for shorter rides, hitting the jumps etc.

Any tips on what to go for without braking the bank? Will some kids motorcross pants (can be got cheap of eBay) do the trick? He has his eye on some Troy Lee gear but his pocket money can't stretch that far!

As far as I know there's not that much in the way of DH clothes for kids so you are best off looking at motocross stuff as there will be more available which means lower prices.
I love horses, best of all the animals. I love horses, they're my friends.

The only kids downhill specific I've seen at Troy Lee and Fox, and both are over £100 for a pair of trousers! Overkill for occasional use.

If I'm looking at motorcross stuff is there anything to look out for? I don't want it too heavy I guess?

you got it - you dont want them too heavy or too padded.

I'd be tempted to go down the route of baggy shorts and knee/shin pads instead.......?

Good call thanks. Took a bit of searching as the CRC website doesn't have the easiest navigation sometimes. But a good selection at reasonable prices. Thanks!
