Taper fork to a std frame - Possible?

Hi.

Does anyone know if it is possible to fit a 1.5 to 1 1/8" tapered fox float fork to a Trek Fuel EX8 2009 frame with a 1 1/8" straight head tube?

I understand there are adapters available to fit straight tube forks to a tapered frame but can it be done the other way round?
